1. Services

Inkling Editing provides professional academic editing services, including proofreading, comprehensive editing, formatting, and consulting for dissertation projects, primarily for seminary students. All services are outlined in your specific project agreement or contract with Inkling Editing.

a. Custom Services: Inkling Editing may offer additional services outside the standard packages upon request, which may require a separate contract and fee.

b. No Guarantee of Academic Outcome: While we strive to improve your manuscript quality, Inkling Editing does not guarantee any specific academic outcomes, grades, or dissertation acceptance as a result of our services.

2. Payment and Fees

All fees for services are outlined in your project contract or invoice.

a. Payment Terms: Depending on the service package, clients may be required to pay a deposit upon booking, with the remaining balance due upon project completion. Payment plans may be available for certain services.

b. Late Payments: If payment is not received by the due date, Inkling Editing reserves the right to delay or suspend services until payment is made.

c. Refunds: Refunds are not provided for services once work has commenced. If the client wishes to terminate the contract, payments for completed work up to the termination date will remain due and payable.

3. Intellectual Property

a. Ownership of Work: Inkling Editing retains all intellectual property rights to proprietary editing methodologies, templates, and formatting standards used in the editing process. These materials are for Inkling Editing’s use only and are not transferred to the client.

b. Client’s Intellectual Property: The client retains all rights to the original work submitted for editing, including any modifications or edits made by Inkling Editing.

c. Marketing License: By engaging Inkling Editing’s services, the client grants Inkling Editing a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the client’s name, project title, and logo for marketing and promotional purposes, unless the client requests otherwise in writing.

4. Confidentiality

Inkling Editing values your privacy and confidentiality. All materials and documents submitted for editing are treated as confidential and are not shared with third parties outside of the editing team, except as required by law or with the client’s express consent.

5. Non-Solicitation

Clients agree not to engage directly with any Inkling Editing independent contractors or editors for any editing-related services outside of the contracted agreement with Inkling Editing. This non-solicitation period is valid for the duration of the agreement and for one year following the termination of services.

6. Disclaimers

a. No Academic Guarantee: Inkling Editing does not guarantee any particular academic outcome, publication acceptance, or specific level of improvement as a result of the services provided.

b. Limitation of Liability: Inkling Editing is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of or in connection with the use of our services. Our maximum liability to any client for any claim arising out of or related to our services is limited to the total fees paid by the client for those services.

7. Termination

a. Client-Initiated Termination: The client may terminate this agreement at any time with written notice. The client will be responsible for payment for any work completed up to the termination date.

b. Inkling Editing-Initiated Termination: Inkling Editing reserves the right to terminate this agreement for any reason, including breach of these Terms by the client. Upon termination, the client will be responsible for payment for any work completed up to the termination date.

8. Changes to Services and Terms

Inkling Editing reserves the right to modify or discontinue any part of the website or services at any time without prior notice. We may also update these Terms periodically. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Effective Date.”

9. Governing Law

These Terms and any disputes related to Inkling Editing’s services shall be governed by the laws of the State of Georgia, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any legal actions or proceedings arising out of these Terms shall be exclusively brought in the state or federal courts located in Martinez, Georgia.
